National Youth Rally 2014

DATE: 4-6 July 2014

The National Youth Rally took part in Chiltern Region near Bedford. All the Youth arrived at my house for the 6.30pm start, with stop off at Rotherham to pick up the rest of the Yorkshire Region’s youth – just under 50 of us in all!. A stop-over ensured we arrived late but not too late to catch up with other Region’s youth until the small hours of the morning.
Saturday saw the traditional sports with the volleyball, football and netball the key events. All the attending Regions took part and while Yorkshire won the netball and volleyball finals, and the North West Region won the football, all competitors did their Regions proud. A disco was put on for the youth both nights in the barn – the Saturday night theme was cowboys and indians.
The famous Austin Sport trophy was competed for on the Sunday. Seven regions took part in the races that included the traditional Primus lighting to the kit race. Yorkshire Region won this closely-fought event that sees the addition of a new trophy for the youth who won the primus race. Ash from Yorkshire won this Overall the youth and leaders enjoyed the weekend and it was great to catch up with old and new friends.
